Joe E. Ellis, O.D

Dr. Joe E. Ellis has been in private practice since 1986. He attended Murray State University and received his professional training at Southern College of Optometry, Memphis, TN. During his training he was selected as the Outstanding Senior Clinician in 1986.
During his professional career he has been awarded the Young Optometrist of the Year (1992-93) and the Optometrist of the Year (1995-96) awards by the Kentucky Optometric Association. Most recently in 2014, Dr. Ellis was awarded the Southern Council of Optometry , Optometrist of the Year and Southern College of Optometry Lifetime Achievement Award.

He has served as President for the Kentucky Optometric Association in 1994/1995 and also was the American Optometric Association President in 2010/2011. Dr. Ellis is active in Governmental affairs at both the state and federal levels regarding healthcare. Dr. Ellis was very involved in the passage of the first in the country , Kentucky entrance level school eye examination law in 2000 and later was active in passage of the inclusion of a children’s vision examination as part of any healthcare plan in the Affordable Care Act in 2010.

In 1994, Dr. Ellis was the first optometrist in Kentucky to receive extensive training of the pre and post-operative care of refractive surgery patients in Windsor, Canada, where refractive surgery was pioneered in North America. Today,  Dr. Ellis is fully credentialed in Kentucky and has achieved Expanded Therapeutic Laser Certification  to provide laser eye services and minor surgeries of the eye.

Dr. Ellis is Board Certified as a Diplomate of  the American Board of Optometry . Dr. Ellis is also a member of the Marshall County Hospital staff.

Dr. Ellis resides in Benton, Marshall County, Kentucky with his wife and their three daughters.

Carl Marquess, M.D.

Ophthalmology is a branch of medical science that deals with the structure, function, and diseases of the eye.

Dr. Marquess performs cataract surgery without stitches and without shots around the eye. Dr. Marquess also performs laser surgery.

Dr. Marquess received his undergraduate degree from Murray State University and his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine.

He served both his internship and residency at Louisiana State University in Shreveport before returning to Paducah to practice.

Dr. Marquess is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

He is professionally affiliated with Western Baptist and Lourdes Hospital in Paducah

Mark Owens, O.D.

After graduation, he joined his father, Dr. Shelton Owens, in practice in Fulton, KY., until 1984. In 1984, he moved to Paducah and began practice with Dr. David Tucker and Dr. John P. Lyles.
In 1992, Dr. Owens and his partners continued to expand their practice by forming Doctors Vision Center, and moving to a new location at 1748 Broadway.
Dr. Owens is a member of the American Optometric Association, and Kentucky Optometric Association.
He has additional training in the medical management of pre- and post- operative refractive surgery cases.
Dr. Owens resides in Paducah with his wife and their two children.

Donise Sheridan, O.D.

After receiving her doctorate in optometry she returned to Mayfield, KY where she has been in private practice with EyeCare Associates since 1998.

Dr. Sheridan is a member of the American Optometric Association. She is also a member of the Kentucky Optometric Association where she served on their Board of Trustees.
She is an active participant in the Kentucky Vision Project, Grace Medical Center and InfantSee program which provides need based eye care services to the community.
She is active in her association on a state as well as regional level.
Dr. Sheridan is certified to use and prescribe medications to diagnosis and treat diseases of the eye.
She is trained to co-manage surgical patients including cataract removal and refractive procedures such as LASIK.
She has continued her post-graduation education at sites across the county to keep up to date on the latest technology and eye care advances.
Dr. Sheridan resides in Graves County with her son. She currently practices full time at her office in Mayfield.

David Tucker, O.D.

He completed an externship at the Eisenhower Army Medical Center. In 1984, he began practicing in Paducah with Dr. Mark Owens and Dr. John P. Lyles. Dr. Tucker and his current partners formed Doctor’s Vision Center in 1992. Dr. Tucker is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Kentucky Optometric Association. He has formal training and experience in the area of Lasik refractive surgery management. He lives in Paducah with his wife and their two children.

Ben Leonard, O.D.

He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2012, along with a B.S. in Vision Science. Dr. Leonard is certified to perform laser procedures and minor anterior surgery to the full extent of the state law. Dr. Leonard is currently serving as a City Councilman in Calvert City where he resides with his wife Tara and his daughter.

David Jaco, O.D.

Dr. Jaco has been practicing optometry in Murray since 1994. He graduated from Southern College of Optemetry in Memphis, TN, after completing his undergraduate requirements at Murray State University. He has been awarded “Young Optometrist of the Year” , the “Presidents Award” by the Kentucky Optometric Association, three times has been named one of “America’s Top Optometrists”, he has served as Trustee of the West Ky Optometric Society and currently serves as President of the Kentucky Optometric Association. Dr Jaco is credentialed to perform minor surgical procedures and the use of lasers and is board certified by the American Board of Optometry.

Laurel Little Van Horn, O.D.

A native of Clinton, Kentucky, Dr. Laurel Van Horn graduated from Murray State University in 1995 with her Bachelor’s of Science degree. In 1999 she received her doctorate of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN.

Dr. Laurel Van Horn’s professional associations include the American Optometric Association, Kentucky Optometric Association, and the West Kentucky Optometric Society. She Currently serves as a Trustee for the Kentucky Optometric Association.

She is an active participant in the Kentucky Vision Project and Infant See program.

Her community involvement includes being a member and past-president of the Benton Lion’s Club and a past board member of the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Van Horn resides in Benton, Kentucky with her husband Brian, her son Will, and daughter Ella.

Aaron Lyles, O.D.

A native of Benton, Kentucky, Dr. Aaron Lyles graduated from Murray State University in 2005 with his Bachelor of Science degree. In 2009, he received his doctorate of optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee.During his professional training, Dr. Lyles was awarded several honors including salutatorian of his graduating class.

Dr. Lyles is currently a member of the American Optometric Association, Kentucky Optometric Association, West Kentucky Optometric Society, and a participate in the Kentucky Vision Project. His community involvement has included being past president of the Benton Lions Club as well as a past board member for the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce.  Currently, Dr. Lyles serves on the board for the Benton/Central Family Resource Center and is a member of the Benton Lions Club.

Dr. Lyles joined EyeCare Associates in 2009 and began working at the Benton office. He currently resides in Hardin, Kentucky with his wife Dr. Natasha Lyles and daughters Cambelle and Cameron.​
